BCA Float E2-35 Avalanche Airbag

The BCA Float E2-35 is a full-size avalanche airbag backpack designed for day-long backcountry skiing and splitboarding objectives. Its Alpride E2 electronic system inflates a 162-litre airbag, while the pack provides 31 litres of usable storage with the E2 system installed.

Touring-focused storage and access

A waterproof coated-nylon exterior helps protect equipment in winter weather. BCA’s Side Stash pocket gives access to frequently used items such as a water bottle or climbing skins without removing the pack. A Back Stash zip, curved side-access zipper, internal accessory pockets and a dedicated shovel-and-probe compartment organise essential equipment. The moulded cooling-fin back panel is designed for comfort while touring and riding.

Alpride E2 system

The electronic Float E2 system uses supercapacitor technology to power its compressor. BCA states that the system is designed for reliable performance in cold temperatures. Two optional AA batteries can supplement the supercapacitor: alkaline batteries provide one additional deployment and can maintain charge for up to three months of normal use, while lithium batteries provide up to three additional deployments and can maintain charge for up to five months.

BCA classifies the E2 engine as a capacitor with an energy-storage capacity of 10 Wh or less and provides an air-travel fact sheet. Always verify current airline and destination rules before travelling.
